Summary/Abstract: Indeterminacy has occupied an increasingly significant place in the work of Michail Goleminov (1956 – 2022) in the two decades of his late creative period between 2000 and 2021. Examples in his performance practice show interaction with the indeterminacy of Cage, Feldman and Brown, which find its manifestation in the organization of musical time and material in his compositional work. Between Concerto in C Minor for Two Keyboards (2002) and Sonic Conflict (2021) the approaches to the “happening” of the mobile musical form change in the direction from partial to complete liberation of compositional means and sound parameters from the composer’s control and entrusting them to the choice of the performer. The article first focuses on key moments of Goleminov’s interaction with the poetics of indeterminacy and then focuses on the specific compositional decisions in these two works, which mark the starting and culminating point in the process of liberation from control in his work. In identifying and analysing the indeterminacy in both compositions, I employ a method used by John Cage in his text Indeterminacy, complemented with my own contribution. In addition, the article is an occasion to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the birth of the Bulgarian artist, who defined himself as a composer and decomposer.
