General Characteristics of JCATS

Summary/Abstract: The use of modeling and simulation systems in the processes of planning, training, exercises, and preparation of military personnel nowadays is already a norm, rather than a new approach or method for increasing efficiency and effectiveness. The availability of multiple software products offered to perform these tasks is more of a problem than a solution due to the need for joint work of military personnel from many countries simultaneously. If each nation works with a different product, the expected synergistic effect of their preparation will not be achieved because each participant would need to be familiar with and able to use every system. JCATS is the most widely used system in the armies of NATO member countries, and this creates the necessity for Bulgarian Army personnel to know it, to be able to work with it, and to use it in their daily activities
