Summary/Abstract: This report is based on the thesis that professional effectiveness in court security cannot be exhausted only through the formal dimensions of competence. In the conditions of direct interaction with citizens, detainees and other participants in the judicial process, the ability for emotional regulation, adequate assessment of interpersonal dynamics and management of one's own reactions becomes an essential factor for the quality of performance of security activities. Emotional intelligence is the personal quality that, according to its standard definition, can influence these abilities and skills. This presentation proposes to expand the concept of professional competence by supplementing the psychological dimension with the category of emotional intelligence
