Summary/Abstract: The study investigates the efficiency of a sediment microbial fuel cell (SMFC) over a 62-day operational period, with particular focus on overcoming cathodic limitations and substrate depletion. The results demonstrate that the use of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) as a cathodic oxidant increased the voltage output to 148.6 mV; however, this was accompanied by alkalization of the cathodic environment (pH 9.55). The highest system performance was achieved following enrichment with organic substrate (5% glucose), resulting in a maximum voltage of 204.6 mV, corresponding to a volumetric power density of 41.9 mW/m³. The results provide valuable insights into the operational dynamics of SMFC systems and highlight the importance of substrate management and cathodic optimization for improving long-term stability and energy recovery
