Summary/Abstract: The least regulated phase of the legislative process in Poland is the possible supplementary stage of the procedure resulting from the Sejm's consideration of the President's request to reconsider a statute. Apart from the Constitution, only one article of the Standing Orders of the Sejm is explicitly devoted to this issue. In recent years, it has increasingly been observed that the Sejm does not reconsider statutes vetoed by the head of state. The author takes a critical view of this practice and considers the possibility of persuading the Sejm and the committees not to remain inactive. Proposals have been put forward to introduce relatively flexible maximum time limits for making decisions.
