Summary/Abstract: The theoretical concepts proposed by Gilles Deleuze have influenced the criticism and the methodology of contemporary art, the philosopher proposes a system that does not operate as an inventory of attributes of the artistic productions, instead stimulates that processes which operates with specific tools, such as: analysing the systems of perception, the creation and reception of art. For Deleuze, artists are creators of affects, of events in continuous development, a process that has an infinite and unstable multiplicity in the artistic field, mostly connected with the receptors. Art in the Deleuzian system has an experimental character, it is a deeply dynamic phenomenon, difficult to map through classical tools, and the artist’s role is to propose new experiments of perception, which are not aesthetically structured by theoretical models. In particular, painting was seen as a transformative medium with the ability to catalyse order inside the chaotic structures, functioning through sensorial mechanisms as a “third eye of modern man” that transcends the evidence. A phenomenon that takes place exclusively through the work of art, regardless of its nature and medium. Gilles Deleuze proposes a new methodology of art-oriented gaze, fuelled by infinite forms of sensations and perception.
