Summary/Abstract: Described by former Obama aides as more accurate than other political TV shows, Veep is a critically acclaimed and highly awarded comedy series about the inner workings of the U.S. political system. With its sarcastic humour and quick pace, as well as a high density of creative insults, it poses an interesting case study for examining the applicability of translation strategies to humorous cultural references. In the present article, we employ Nord’s TOSTA model and her translation brief to take a closer look at the source text and its intended function in the target text, while also putting Margherita Dore’s (2020) translation strategies to the test.
