Bulgaria and Kazakhstan: Fifteen Years of Establishment of the Diplomatic Relations

Summary/Abstract: The current study attempts for the first time to make a thorough analysis of the bilateral relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Kazakhstan in the period of the pluralistic democratic development since the 90s of the 20th century until now. The author has focused on the following main fields of social practice: economy, foreign policy, culture and interethnic relations. The establishment and the development of the Bulgarian- Kazak relations including the legal aspects of the diverse republican institutional relations have been also treated. It is worth mentioning that the study has emphasized on the trade priorities between both countries, as they have been stricken as leading factor within market economy development. Besides, the Bulgarian Diaspora in Kazakhstan has been very carefully tackled as far as it has played a role of connecting agent between current and forthcoming cultural relations. Original documents from the archives of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Parliament, the Presidency and the other Bulgarian institutions and materials from the media have been used in the study.
