Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the syntactic-semantic and comparative analysis of three language units: [coś] przydarzyło się [komuś] 'something happened to someone', [coś] przytrafiło się [komuś] 'something happened to someone' and wypadło [komuś] [coś (z)robić] 'somebody chanced to do something'. Various methods were used during the research, the most important one being the method of formulating hypotheses and verifying them using contradiction tests. It has been established that the units [coś] przydarzyło się [komuś] and [coś] przytrafiło się [komuś] are synonymous, and the third one has a closely related meaning. This fact explains why in some contexts all three expressions can replace each other, while in others - conveying more semantic details about the event - they cannot. The research results were presented in the form of semantic explications of the analyzed units.
