Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to analyze the various causes of the Russian-Ukrainian war of 2022, starting with the traditional causes, the primary causes, and ending with the causes from the point of view of the Russian narrative. The main research problem of this article is contained in the question: what are the main causes and reasons for the Russian-Ukrainian war, and what are the conditions that led to the emergence of these causes? The war with Ukraine was the only possible result of the domestic and foreign policy of the militaristic state created by Vladimir Putin, which prefers military means over any other to resolve foreign or domestic policy issues. Virtually every war arises as a result of several/some complex causes and factors. The author emphasizes that this war is not caused by a single cause, but by a set of causes, which may vary in importance, but the most important causes are the expansionist (imperial) mentality of Putin himself, as well as society as a whole. This is not to say that the other causes played no role in causing the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine. However, they can be counted as additional arguments.
