Summary/Abstract: The creation of the Jagiellonian University Alumni Association corresponded to the celebration of the university’s 600th establishment anniversary in 1964. It was intended to strengthen the ties between graduates and their Alma Mater. However, it did not become part of the university’s structure. It was subject to strict control by the authorities, and many of its main organizers were members of the Communist Party. Nevertheless, it consolidated a large group of graduates from all faculties, including those that had been excluded from the Jagiellonian University in the 1950s. Obtaining a headquarters allowed for very active science popularising and social activities. The association continues its activities to this day.
