Summary/Abstract: In the context of dynamic digitalization, global mobility, and cultural diversity, the preparation of future teachers is becoming a strategic priority for educational systems. The competence-based approach is emerging as a leading paradigm that emphasizes the application of knowledge in real-life contexts and the development of key skills such as critical thinking, adaptability, creativity, digital and social literacy, and professional reflection. This paper explores the theoretical foundations of the competence-based and interdisciplinary approaches in the training of pedagogy students. It presents leading interdisciplinary practices such as project- and problem-based learning, the flipped classroom, the STEAM approach, Design Thinking, simulations, and role-playing games, all of which foster the development of 21st-century skills. Special attention is given to practical training as a form of experiential learning, highlighting the importance of collaboration between universities and educational institutions. The paper focuses on the activities of the Student Club „Mission: TEACHER“ at Burgas Free University as a sustainable platform for implementing innovations, building professional identity, and engaging pedagogy students in real school environments. In conclusion, the paper emphasizes that the competence-based approach is not only a methodological choice but also a necessary vision for preparing future educators who inspire, lead, and create change within the educational community of the 21st century.
