Summary/Abstract: This article examines pragmatemes used in condolences posted on Facebook by Spanish-speaking users. To identify them, 340 comments on death-related threads published on this social media platform have been analyzed. The analysis of the collected material, applying a broad definition of pragmateme, shows that imperative-enunciation pragmatemes prevail, with a notable emphasis on those commonly presented in the form of acronyms. The article also notes that the detected pragmatemas represent two types of discursive components in the act of condolence: communication and evaluation of the event, as well as the expression of solidarity with the bereaved.
