Summary/Abstract: Among all the buildings in the peasant households in the Codru area, after the house, the barn is the construction that is given special attention. The way in which people created certain mental spaces is given by the geographical area in which they spent most of their lives. The reference to the settlement in which they had to live, produce food and ultimately survive creates certain patterns of manifestation. The barn is an ensemble that competes with the house within the household, for the social function it has, but the barn is the “family hand”, as one of the village elders confessed to us. The role that the barn has in it, of cultural heritage, which is still very present in the villages of Tinutul Codrului, but also the love that people have for it show us the importance that the barn has to the people of the Codru area.
