Summary/Abstract: After the total takeover of state power by the communists, with the expulsion of King Mihai from the country, at the end of 1947, they made massive changes in all areas, including the education system. On August 3, 1948, decree 175 for education reform was published in the „Monitorul Oficial”. He brought structural changes in the school of all grades, he was inspired by the Soviet legislation in the field. Secondary technical schools were included in secondary education, with studies lasting four years (grades VIII-XI, or as they were numbered in technical education I-IV). Secondary technical schools were equivalent in degree to theoretical high schools. Enrollment was possible for 7th grade graduates following an exam. Graduates received the diploma of „finished wood products technician”, being able to follow the courses of a higher education institution, or engage in production as technicians, or in education as „master teachers”. The Industrial High School for Boys in Satu Mare (continuator of the Professional School for the Wood Industry and the School of Arts and Crafts) will be reorganized as the Secondary Technical School of Finished Wood Products. The school provided a very good quality education, with most graduates having impressive careers in the wood industry (foremen, technicians, engineers, factory managers), education (including at university level), army officers, etc.
