Summary/Abstract: The present article depicts the development of the aid and mutual support activities carried out by the Bucharest Germans, from their beginnings in the mid-19th century up to the decline of the entire German association system in Bucharest after the Second World War. The first aid and social support association, and indeed the first German association in Bucharest, was founded in 1852, thus marking the beginning of a vibrant German association life in the Romanian capital, which laid the foundation for the economic and social development of the Bucharest German community. The existence of the Sterbekassenverein (Burial aid association) reflects the political development of the host country, Wallachia, and later Romania, from the mid-19th century until the Second World War.
