Summary/Abstract: The Fundamentals of Human Rights, education and sustainable peace. This paper seeks to explore the reasons behind the shortcomings of contemporary European educational systems. The persistent failure to achieve sustainable peace - nowadays perceived as a sort of chimera – can also, to a significant extent, be attributed to the limitations of the prevailing pedagogical models in Europe. These models remain deeply rooted in traditional and Eurocentric paradigms and are often delivered through hyper-competitive frameworks that prioritize the formation of “workers” over the cultivation of “free and democratic citizens.” In contrast, the adoption of an intercultural educational approach could offer a more coherent alignment with the principles of human rights and substantially contribute to the realization of a truly sustainable peace.
