Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the wave of associations with the Holocaust that emerged in Polishdiscourse in relation to the humanitarian crisis on the Polish–Belarusian border, whichstarted in 2021. The author examines the phenomenon from a diachronic perspective, demonstrating its successive stages. Furthermore, the article highlights the socialfunctions of such associations and investigates why some people perceive the bordersituation and its cultural representations almost like reenactments of various stagesof the Holocaust while others do not notice such analogies at all. The author wonderswhether we now witness the emergence of multidirectional memory in Poland, whichcould lead in the future to the social realization about the historical and current eruptionof violence.
