Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to analyse the key issues facing Ukraine on the road to European integration from the moment it declared independence to the present day under the conditions of the ongoing war since 2022, as well as the impact of various internal and external factors on integration efforts based on an analysis of both European and American source studies. The main research method is system analysis, as well as content analysis of official documents and literature on the subject. In addition, the research material was supplemented by media reports. The impact of the high level of corruption in Ukraine's state institutions on the effectiveness of the implementation of the reforms required by the EU is examined, as well as the impact of the Russian Federation's military actions aimed at destabilising Ukraine internally and delaying its integration process with the EU. The arguments for and against European integration are considered, and the question of Ukraine's defense capabilities in the context of the future prospect of becoming a full-fledged member of the EU and NATO will be traced. In addition, whether and how financial, military and political support from the EU and NATO affects the maintenance of Ukraine's ability to continue its reforms and defend its European foreign policy direction is analysed. The final conclusion of the analysis presented in the article is the indisputable fact that despite the ongoing war with Russia, Ukraine is gradually implementing the required reforms and has a real chance for EU integration, if it overcomes key barriers such as corruption, lack of meritocracy and Russian influence.
