Summary/Abstract: Constantin Mavrocordat’s “Great Charter” of February 7/18, 1741, and human rights. To date, in Romanian-language specialized literature (legal, historical, theological etc.) there is no stage that presents the human rights provided for in Constantin Mavrocordat’s princely charter of February 7/18, 1741, published also in Paris in 1742 - in a concise form - under the name “Constitution”. Therefore, through the pages of this study – succinct but substantial in content – I wanted to familiarize the reader with the text of this “Great Charter,” alias “Constitution,” and with the way in which human rights were perceived and expressed in illo tempore, thus contributing to a more accurate understanding of the history of these rights in the light of both European law at the time and ancient Romanian law (customary and nomocanonical law).
