Summary/Abstract: The present research focuses on the financial literacy of high school students. Despite the fact that a lot of research has been done on the financial culture of young people, this interesting and complex topic has not shown any spectacular progress. There are a number of methods for measuring financial literacy, which have been used in several studies. In this research, through the example of high school students from two schools in Oradea, we try to draw a synthetic picture on this topic, using the available research results and research tools, to summarize the available knowledge on young people’s financial literacy, to compile a measurement tool to examine the level of students financial literacy, culture and attitudes. In terms of methodology, we relied on secondary data to compile a questionnaire to collect primary data, which we administered online with students. We then present the research hypotheses and summarize what we currently know about young people’s financial literacy based on secondary data and previous research. We assumed that our young students save their income and found that more than half of secondary school students do so. Our second hypothesis looked at the difference between men and women and found that there is no significant difference between the financial culture of the sexes. In terms of financial literacy, we thought that young people learn financial literacy mainly from their parents, and this hypothesis was confirmed, as 56% of students learn financial literacy from their parents. Financial literacy is stronger among students in the upper classes than in the lower classes, a hypothesis that has not been confirmed. We thought that there was no significant difference between urban and rural students in terms of financial awareness, this was confirmed. Our last hypothesis that there is a significant relationship between family financial status and financial awareness was not confirmed.
