Summary/Abstract: The publication is devoted to the United Nations Rules on the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non-custodial Measures for Women Offenders (The Bangkok Rules). This international document is entirely devoted to women deprived of liberty and contains datailed recommendations for the countries to which it is addressed. In view of the above, they should undoubtedly become not only a universally accepted standard for protecting prisoners from ill-treatment, but even more so a model of penitentiary impact on convicted women. Due to the limited scope of the study, selected aspects have been addressed.
