Summary/Abstract: Romanian Orthodox confessional schools during the pastorate of Bishop Vasile Moga. The pastorate of Bishop Vasile Moga (1811-1845) marked a bright page for the history of the Romanian Church in Transylvania. This hierarch was a true scholar, a man who loved culture. Bishop Vasile was always concerned with the development of education, in all its aspects: theological education, pedagogical education, Orthodox confessional schools (primary schools in rural areas), training priests and teachers and printing school handbooks. Vasile Moga carried out a real propaganda among the faithful for the establishment of schools and sending children to education and took all measures for the good organization of the schools. He always linked the school issue to the essential demands of the political movement, in which he actively participated, along with the other Romanian leaders. He, undoubtedly, had a decisive contribution to the development of Romanian education in Transylvania. The several hundred schools founded and under the patronage of Bishop Vasile Moga fulfilled their mission well.
