Integration of IoT Solutions into Urban Infrastructure: Opportunities and Challenges for the Bulgarian Market

Summary/Abstract: Integration of IoT (Internet of Things) into urban infrastructure is becoming a key factor in the development of sustainable, efficient and competitive cities. Bulgaria has shown significant progress in connectivity and digital transformation, and continues to face challenges such as digital skills shortages, cybersecurity and limited integration between systems. European Commission reports show that the country has a robust telecommunications infrastructure, but the level of adoption of IoT solutions remains uneven among municipalities. At the same time, market analyses confirm increased interest in IoT-based urban services, including smart lighting, traffic management, and energy efficiency.
