Summary/Abstract: This publication focuses on the internal organizational aspect of the work of the Permanent Commission of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance on Defense Industry, which coordinated defense production with the Warsaw Pact countries during the period 1956–1990. The text also provides more information about Bulgaria's participation in its creation. The Commission played an important role in the system of managing peacetime military production in Bulgaria and contributed to the defense and mobilization preparedness of the country's economy. Declassified documents mainly from the archives of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party, the Council of Ministers, and the State Planning Committee, as well as publications of the Russian Academy of Sciences based on declassified Soviet documents, were used.
