Summary/Abstract: Contemporary public administration is confronted with the need to redefine its role and modes of operation in response to the crises of the twenty-first century, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, climate change, and the energy crisis. The aim of this article is to analyse the relationship between the right to good administration - as an individual subjective right - and the New Public Management paradigm, which promotes efficiency, decentralisation, and market-oriented management practices. The article adopts a theoretical and analytical approach and is based on qualitative methods commonly used in management sciences and legal studies. It employs the dogmatic - legal method, as well as conceptual and comparative analyses of public management models. These are supplemented by systems analysis and the analysis of managerial processes. The article draws on an extensive review of the relevant literature (desk research) in the fields of public management, administrative sciences, and law. The authors argue that the transfer of private-sector management mechanisms into public administration, although it may enhance operational efficiency in certain cases, can also lead to undermining individual rights and a loss of control over key areas of public life. This is particularly significant in times of crisis, which often necessitate the use of extraordinary legal measures, there by underscoring the need to balance effectiveness with legality and transparency. In light of the analyses presented, the right to good administration emerges not only as a safeguard for individual protection but also as a guiding principle for the evolution of administrative models - towards more rational, participatory, and network-based public management, consistent with the concept of good governance.
