Defects of Bulgarian Political Leadership

Summary/Abstract: The article examines some of the key defects of Bulgarian political leaders – in historical and modern aspects. The new realities of the transition era created the so called “new political class”, consisting generally not of prepared and consensual political leaders, but of people who gained wealth in a rapid and unknown manner. This new stratum, without ideology and professional training, encapsulates itself as a caste, building networks among society. The presence of effective political leaders to reside in the power zone thanks to their merits is palpably lacking.
