Summary/Abstract: This article provides an introduction to proto-Christian art and outlines a university course. It begins with a general presentation of the historical context and the socio-political situation of Christians in the late Roman Empire. A subsequent section establishes the chronology of proto-Christian art and formulates the analytical and interpretative requirements related to the specificities of this visual production. The main section proposes a typological systematization of proto-Christian art, using thematic and theological and dogmatic implications as criteria. The course is accompanied by a substantial iconographic dossier and a minimal bibliography.
