Summary/Abstract: This article explores the fundamental role of the history of religion in shaping the identity of the young Orthodox Christian, who navigates the intersection between ancestral tradition and the challenges of secular modernity. The authors argue that a deep understanding of the historical roots of faith is not a mere academic exercise but an essential pillar for consolidating an authentic and robust identity. The paper analyzes crucial elements, starting from the biblical foundations and the testimony of the early Church, continuing with the theological and spiritual heritage of the Patristic era and the Ecumenical Councils, and culminating with the history of Christianity in the Romanian space, where faith has intertwined with national identity. Finally, the article addresses the impact of modernity, emphasizing that familiarity with this historical journey provides the young Orthodox Christian with the necessary discernment to respond to contemporary challenges (relativism, consumerism, digital culture) and to transform a venerable heritage into a living, assumed, and relevant faith.
