CÂTEVA OBSERVAȚII DESPRE TREI „VALURI“ DE FOLCLORISM ÎN MUZICA POLONEZĂ A SECOLULUI AL XX-LEA
A FEW REMARKS ABOUT THREE „WAVES” OF FOLKLORISM IN POLISH MUSIC OF THE 20TH CENTURY

Summary/Abstract: In the last century we have observed three “waves” of folklorism in Polish music. The first one had been inspired by the music and critical writings of Karol Szymanowski and prevailed throughout the interwar period. The second began immediately after WW2 as a continuation of the interwar folklorism, in 1949 being decreed as adherent to the aesthetics of socialist realism by the convention of Polish composers and musicologists, only to end soon after 1956, when the composers’ attention turned towards the avant-garde. The third, also known as ‘new folklorism’, commenced in the mid-seventies and has continued until the present day, giving ground to a unique dialogue-play with traditional culture.
