Summary/Abstract: Special pedagogues’ opinions about their professional training, improvement of their educational needs and meeting them have been analyzed in the article. A hypothesis has been formulated that special pedagogues value their professional training positively, but have many needs to improve it. Teacher training for the profession and educational needs were analyzed in the form of a survey questionnaire. Special pedagogues from different educational and other institutions were chosen for the purpose of obtaining objective opinion. A link between special pedagogues’ needs and professional training was searched for while analysing research data. The research stated that special pedagogues’ educational needs are influenced by their motivation, the idea of life-long learning, the changing policy in education and socio-economic changes. It was clarified that special pedagogues’ training is sufficient for professional activities and the professional activity itself meets communication, cooperation, cognitive, creative, self – expressional, and a little less financial security needs.
