Summary/Abstract: Important personality of the Romanian exile from France and the most translated Romanian writer, Virgil Gheorghiu (1916-1992) was not enough investigated until now. In an attempt to rediscover important aspects from his work and activity, we will try there to bring into attention the way how he emphasizes the sufferance and pain in books like: The 25h Hour, The Sacrifices of the Danube, or The American Eye. We will focus there on the social meaning of the idea and on the way how he sees as being implemented by the Communists and Capitalists in the social structures that bear these ways of organisation.
