Summary/Abstract: Unification of the Romanian Principalities on January 24, 1859 imposed the need for institutional unification and, above all, the telegraph, which ensured the fastest communications at the time. Wallachia and Moldavia each had their own telegraph networks before 1859. The unification of the two networks, the appointment of Cezar Librecht to the leadership, the expansion of connections with all the important localities of the country, the conclusion of international conventions and the unification of the telegraph with the post office led to the creation of a secure and fast national telegraph network, capable of ensuring the internal and external exchange of information.
