Summary/Abstract: Shepherding and transhumance have diminished, almost disappeared, even in Mărginimea Sibiului, once known for shepherding. Along with the occupation, the specific vocabulary of this job disappeared, which includes names of animals, specific products, diseases and a series of aspects related to its organization. Few speakers today still know what preducea, stogoșă, măzărar or coleșă means. The article presents the richness of this vocabulary, as well as the preservation of some terms in expressions and locutions that give expressivity to the language.
