Summary/Abstract: The hymnal published on the occasion of the Third Hungarian Reformed World Meeting (1996) became the subject of considerable professional debate. Articles in the contemporary press both praised and criticised it. Originally intended solely for the meeting, it later came – through a fortunate compromise – to play a significant role in the renewal of sacred music in some of the detached Reformed congregations. This study analyses the process by which the publication came to serve as an official hymnbook for the Reformed Churches of Transylvania and Subcarpathia.
