Summary/Abstract: The following paper discusses the concept of natural theology and revelation in the main works of the four Cappadocian theologians (St. Basil the Great, St. Gregory of Nyssa, St. Macrina the Younger and St. Gregory of Nazianzus) dedicated to creation. It shows their endeavour to demonstrate God’s existence and His divine attributes (wisdom, beauty, power, goodness) starting from the creation. It presents their method of approaching creation as an aesthetic object in the manner of Greek classical philosophy and of applying it corelative aesthetic features: harmony, beauty, skilfulness etc. For the Cappadocians, the world is a school in which human beings learn to praise, see and know God. The general frame in which takes place their endeavour is represented by the apologetical context. Today, their teaching should be adapted within a new vision of the world in the frame of the ecological challenges.
