Summary/Abstract: In the Orthodox tradition, Holy Scripture offers numerous perspectives on human suffering, illness, and healing, addressing both their spiritual dimension and their material or bodily aspect. Theological works—and not only those—dealing with this ever‑relevant theme for society as a whole consistently draw upon biblical references from the Old Testament and the New Testament, thereby outlining several directions that respond to fundamental human questions or that shape a particular framework of understanding.
