Summary/Abstract: The discussion undertaken in this study comprises the presentation of the results of team and individual research conducted in the years 1989-2024 by the Social Research Team for Borderland Culture and Education, founded and developed for over three decades by Professor Tadeusz Lewowicki. This research was aimed at capturing the stability and variability of the image of values appreciated by young people from the Polish-Czech borderland and their life aspirations, conditioned by the ongoing political and cultural changes in both countries. The use of the longitudinal comparison strategy in the research made it possible not only to present the relative dynamics of change in the axiological preferences of young generations, but also to capture certain mechanisms determining it. The results of the research and their analyses are important for several reasons. Firstly, they diagnose similarities and differences in the scope of life aspirations and value systems of young people. Secondly, they indicate a multifaceted view of the conditions or various contexts of the values and aspirations preferred by young generations. Thirdly, the collected empirical material may be of interest to many researchers into borderland issues. Fourthly, the results are a point of reference and at the same time they encourage further studies and research in this area.
