Summary/Abstract: Within this study it’s accomplished a complete identification of the funeral pillars situated in three settlements from the so-called „Land of Salt”: Ocna de Sus, Ocna de Jos and Praid. The pillars are placed inside the cemeteries of those settlements preserving the tradition of the Hungarian funeral monument, being mostly composed from an upright section, decorated with geometric or floral ornaments, on a side appearing details about the deceased. The type that provides from the central pillar two distinct lateral sections placed on the bias, are quite rare. Almost every monument is made from wood, except for two funeral pillars made of stone, placed on the same grave, from Praid village. Regarding their preservation state, most of them lacking an older age than 20-30 years, it reveals the fact that the custom disappeared for a while just to be adopted again by the villagers.
