Summary/Abstract: This study examines the introduction of Pentecostalism to the Roma minority in Csíkszentgyörgy (Ciucsângeorgiu, Romania), a village in the Alcsík region mainly inhabited by Catholic Hungarians, and its impact on the community’s lifestyle. The Roma first encountered Pentecostalism about two decades ago during the illness of a local man, a turning point that influenced both his life and the broader Roma community. Since then, more individuals have chosen to live according to God’s will. Congregational gatherings once held on Roma settlements now take place in a prayer house built in the village centre. The research investigates whether a genuine religious conversion has occurred or if the community is engaging for the first time with a faith that appeals to them and may eventually lead to conversion. It also examines how they encountered Pentecostalism, the social and psychological motivations for adopting it, and the changes it has brought to their moral values and daily practices. Methodologically, the study draws on participant observation, attendance at communal ritual events, and interviews with community members and external figures, including leaders of the village’s secular and religious institutions.
