Summary/Abstract: Sustainable development sets the direction for the responsible functioning of modern societies and economies. Focusing on the future of humanity and the surrounding world is of key importance in this process. Therefore, it is necessary to concentrate efforts related to broadly understood development on economic, social and environmental goals. The ability to balance these areas is not a simple matter. It requires a particular focus on the goals of sustainable activity, the adoption of principles and the development of techniques that orient the organisation towards sustainability and shape its sustainable identity. The issues outlined above are the subjectof this article. The literature on the subject explores the issue of sustainable development from many angles. However, the aspect of the identity of a sustainable organisation has not been sufficiently explained in the literature. Therefore, the main objective of this article is to discuss the idea of sustainable development in social, environmental and economic terms and, against this background, to explain the essence of the identity of a sustainable organisation.
