Summary/Abstract: This article examines manuscript funeral sermons from the collection Mineja ogólna i zbiór tekstów religijnych, originating from Nadsiannia and dating to the first half of the 18th century. The analysis focuses on the functioning of the Ruthenian language in preaching practice and considers the sermon as a widely used genre shaped by the traditions and conventions of the early modern period. The study describes the manuscript collection from Nadsiannia (the village of Lishchava Horishnia), dated to 1724–1727 and 1748, and proposes a hypothesis regarding the toponymic origin of the scribe’s surname. The structure of the Mineja manuscript is examined, including sermons written in Ruthenian, four of which are funeral sermons. Particular attention is paid to the section Punkta potrebnyi kaznodiiemъ, vъ Skarzi, in which the adaptation of Fr. Piotr Skarga’s sermon O Sąndzie po śmierći. Kazánie from Kazania przygodne z inemi drobnieyszemi pracami, o roznych rzeczach wszelakim stanom należących (1610) is identified. The analysis also identifies general and local linguistic features in the funeral sermons that characterize language practice within the examined manuscript collection.
