Summary/Abstract: This article analyses the work of Mečislovas Ežerskis, one of the Šiauliai region‘s most famous folk artists. Ežerskis is a woodcarver who lives in Kelmė. In the context of contemporary Lithuanian folk sculpture, his work stands out for its unique blend of nature, Baltic mythology and fantasy, reflecting the artist‘s worldview and his distinctive approach to the material. The artist‘s work is closely connected to nature and the riches of the forest because it is here that he finds the materials he needs to create his pieces, using tree branches, growths, roots and stumps to make various objects. These are used to create sticks, sculptures and other items, which are then enriched by the artist‘s imagination and decorated with carved images of people, animals or mythological creatures.
