Summary/Abstract: The concept of communication is extremely complex, oscillating between a tool for mass manipulation and a fundamental mechanism for building social communities. It can be seen as a way of revealing social communion, in contrast to theories that emphasize its role in persuasion and control. The power asymmetries inherent in communication can be exploited maliciously to manipulate recipients, concealing real intentions and circumventing their rational judgment. Unlike simple lying, manipulation is a deeply goal-oriented process that can even exploit the receiver's subjective interests to secure their unconscious consent. To counteract this, critical discourse analysis attempts to decode the ideologies hidden in language, empowering individuals to resist social domination and manipulation.
