FUNDAMENTAL WORKS OF ROMANIAN ETHNOLOGY IN THE CORRESPONDENCE OF FOLKLOREISTS. A STUDY ON THE EPISTOLARY DIALOGUE CARAMAN–BÎRLEA–TALOȘ

Summary/Abstract: The present study investigates the manner in which the reference works of Romanian ethnology from the second half of the 20th century are reflected and evaluated in the correspondence between Petru Caraman, Ovidiu Bîrlea, and Ion Taloș. Based on the analysis of relevant epistolary fragments, the article highlights the methodological debates, critical assessments, and scientific validation mechanisms present in the dialogue among these researchers. The correspondence is approached as an essential documentary source for understanding the process of configuring the disciplinary canon and the dynamics of the post-war academic community. The proposed approach contributes to the reconstruction of the intellectual context in which the fundamental works of Romanian ethnology were received and interpreted.
