Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the processes and their participants in Russian and Ukrainian media discourses. The research focuses on the news reports about the war in Ukraine. The processes and participants are analysed from the critical stylistics perspective. By applying two textual conceptual functions introduced by Lesley Jeffries (2014)—representation of actions, states and events, as well as naming and description of participants — this paper aims to show how the same actions, states and events are being presented in both Russian and Ukrainian news. The interpretation of the results indicates that the representation of the war-related events differs significantly in these two discourses due to the opposing ideological conceptions in Russian and Ukrainian media.
