Summary/Abstract: Modern armed conflicts imply the need for innovative approaches to defence strategies in the face of growing hybrid threats and a dynamically changing security environment. An analysis of offensive actions and defensive strategies in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict enables the use of Warden's rings model as an effective tool for understanding the impact of warfare on the functioning of the state as a party to the conflict. Information and psychological operations play a key role in modern hybrid conflicts, where kinetic operations are closely linked to information manipulation and message-building aimed at weakening the adversary. Warden's rings model provides a theoretical framework for analysing modern conflicts, emphasising the need for an integrated approach to state defence. It enables precise planning of offensive and defensive actions, while pointing out the key role of interdependencies between strategic elements of the functioning of the state.
