Summary/Abstract: Artificial intelligence translation tools have facilitated global communication easier than ever before, thanks to the many applications in use today. The potential for easily closing language divides is certainly intriguing. Learning foreign languages is no longer the daunting prospect that it once was. With artificial intelligence, learners now have access to tailor-made online content in the chosen language, which closes gaps in knowledge and allows for self-directed learning. But in an outdoor classroom, it is hard to evaluate progress. Are they learning the proper word order and sentence structure? Do they struggle with pronunciation? Can AI help make these fundamentals more accessible? And perhaps most importantly: can students learn to get by without human teachers and translators altogether?
