Summary/Abstract: In this study, a short story written by Munro has been analysed in terms of one of the textuality principles which is cohesion. The other textuality principles which are coherence, intertextuality, acceptability, informativity, intentionality and situationality have not been included. Cohesion analysis does not give space for subjectivity for the researcher. Cohesion analysis has two dimensions which are grammatical and lexical categories. Grammatical category has been handled in terms of references, ellipsis, tense and aspect, substition, parallellism and conjunctions. Lexical category is analysed in terms of repetitions and collocations. As a black comedy example, use of parallellism, substitions, repetitions and collocations gives such a short story a deeper understanding. In this study, cohesive analysis is done without making thematic analysis. As a black comedy, it reflects the atmosphere of Edwardian society.
