THE TRUE STAR OF THE INTERWAR ROMANIAN PRESS: THE PHOTOGRAPHER-REPORTER

Summary/Abstract: Our paper does not try to be a history of the presence of photography in the Romanian press. It does not aim at being a register of the Romanian photographer-reporters (photojournalists) from the interwar years or to create a hierarchy of them, nor to classify in any way the photographs published in the newspapers and the magazines of the same era. All these topics are already the focus of other researchers. What our work will do is to present, as clearly as possible, the image that the „photographer-reporter” had, at a given time, in our press, in relation to the editor and the reporter. It is true, however, that, throughout the work, some names of Romanian photographer-reporters will be mentioned. In order to carry out this study, several articles were read, which were published in several newspapers and magazines, such as: „Rampa”, „Dimineața”, „România literară”, „Gazeta ilustrată”, „Ilustrațiunea română”, „Viitorul”, etc. The period that particularly interested us was the interwar period, but some information concerning the first years of the last century will also be presented here.
